Product Review

I’m not sure about you but I do like clothing which you can just grab and go right from your closet (quick and easy, 1, 2, 3). It also helps when you have outfits which can be worn to several types of occasions without feeling overdressed or underdressed (but just right). Now, this product review I will give today is for a women’s jumpsuit by Kissmoda available on Amazon. It’s an elegant jumpsuit with short sleeves. Just think of all the many places you can wear this outfit too with no problem. Let’s say you’re going to an evening event (semi-formal), you can decide to wear this jumpsuit off to one shoulder with some accessories and heels and you are ready to walk out the door. Or perhaps you need to be more conservative for work, this jumpsuit will still fit right in giving you that professional look. All you will need to do is wear it the standard way. Jumpsuits are back in style now more than ever. You might be thinking but wearing a one piece how comfortable can that be. Well speaking from experience, I do own a jumpsuit and the compliments I received while wearing it one night out to a restaurant was a pleasant surprise. If you are looking for loose fitting (nothing clingy), you need to check-out this jumpsuit.

Comes in a variety of sizes & colors

This particular jumpsuit starts at size small (S) and goes up to extra, extra large (XXL), how amazing is that! Then I must also share with you the available colors: green, red, wine red, black, yellow, blue and white (a total of 7 colors). I know we all have our favorite color (or go to) that works best on our skin tone. Perhaps you like red (a color that makes a bold statement). Or how about black or blue (as it tends not to draw too much attention). This jumpsuit romper is made out of Polyester and Spandex material but very lightweight. Here are some features you might find helpful about this garment: long with the wide leg; waist belt, short sleeves with a zipper in the back. Oh, and the cost ranges from $18.99 – $26.99, yes under $30.00. Would you say its within a reasonable price (yes or no)? Here are a few more pictures of this jumpsuit in different colors.

Can you guess which era?

When you think about a one-piece jumpsuit, which era do you think it all began? I wasn’t sure myself so I had to look this up and found out it was in 1919. We’re talking over ninety-nine (99) years ago. In one of my previous post, I wrote a blog on Vintage style clothing. I would have never guessed vintage clothing and jumpsuits (romper pants) were designed around the same era. That just goes to show that some clothing styles can return again and still remain fashionable and trendy. History shows that jumpsuits came back on the scene in the 1970s & 1980s and here we are in 2018. I guess one can say its never gone out of style completely but over the years designers have made jumpsuits a fashionable item one wouldn’t mind owning. Nowadays you see all ages of women wearing jumpsuits.

Fun Fact: Did you know the original intent of a jumpsuit was made for parachuters? Oh, how it came a mighty long way from its true invention.

Customers who purchased this jumpsuit through Amazon gave it a rating of 3.7 out of 5 stars.

Pros -and- Cons

Now I’ll talk about the pros and cons of this jumpsuit:

Pros Cons
Someone with height and long legs this is an ideal outfit. It does tend to run small (check the chart size before ordering), or order one size up.
It’s machine (or hand) washable. If your height is more on the shorter side, you will need to have it hemmed (or may need to wear high heels).
Can be worn at a variety of occasions/affairs. Since it has a zipper in the back, while out in the public and needing to use the restroom might cause a challenge.
Comes in seven (7) colors.
Breathable Materials.
Easy to zip up from the back.

Recap

    • Kissmoda Women’s Elegant Wide Leg Work Half Sleeve Jumpsuit
    • Price range: $18.99 – $26.00
    • Sizes: S – XXL
    • Available in seven (7) colors
    • Can be worn for multiple events or occasions
    • Easy to maintain (machine washable)

Do you feel this “Jumpsuit” is suitable for you

I’m sure after reading the pros and cons you may still have some reservations if this jumpsuit is suitable for you – which I can understand. My goal is to help you (the customer) feel at ease when searching for clothing items from Affiliate Merchants websites (like Amazon) for affordable items that fit within your budget. I also realize that the quality of a product matters just as much as the price. Only you know the answer to the following two questions:

    1. Does this jumpsuit meet up to your standards?
    2. Have your concerns been addressed and answered?

Did you find this product review helpful

Some customers who purchased this item from Amazon gave great reviews and then there were a few who suggested buying a size up from your regular size. Ladies, we know sometimes clothing is not always true to its size especially when its a letter size and not a number size. Please keep this in mind when making your decision about this item (if you choose to move forward in purchasing).

As I come to a close with my review about this jumpsuit, I do hope you found my post helpful. Feel free to leave a comment below. I look forward to reading your comments, thank you.

2018 Fashion Trends: Women Fall Accessories

Okay as promised in my last post, today I will talk about the other five Fall 2018 trending accessories that are making headway.  Wikipedia’s definition of fashion accessory is an item used to contribute, in a secondary manner, to the wearer’s outfit, often used to complete an outfit and chosen to specifically complement the wearer’s look. So, for this next fall accessory on the list just might throw you for a loop but when you think about it, why not use it as an accessory. We probably use it every day without giving it a second thought.

Accessory #6: Reusable Retail Store Shopping Bags or Totes

Who would have guessed that a plastic bag or paper bag would be an inspiration for designers to add to their runway fashion events? Well, it happened, take a look here.  The next time you purchase an item from your favorite fashion store or retail, don’t be so quick to throw away the bag. Who knows, it just might look good as an accessory to the outfit you plan to wear down the road in the Fall.

Now you might be thinking really, a reusable store bag as an accessory? In today’s trending era you’ll be surprised how the ordinary can become useful more ways than one. Some retail stores have redesigned their shopping bags to make it more eye appealing and inviting to the customer. It’s almost a secretive way of drawing attention to the bag so you will remember that store even after you leave their establishment.  You can check out these reusable stylish shopping bags on bestproducts.com.

Accessory #7: Large (Oversized) Sunglasses

I’m sure you’ve seen the large oversized sunglasses people are wearing these days (you may already have a pair or two). They come in so many shapes and styles, how is one to decide which is the right fit? It’s been said the oversized sunglass is the recipe for looking like a Celebrity.   Here are 7 tips on how to choose the best sunglasses.  Or watch this video on “How to Choose Sunglasses for Face Shape”.

We wear sunglasses as part of our fashion accessory style. However, let’s not forget why they were originally created and that’s to protect our eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Sunglasses serve two purposes for us: protection from the sun and a cool fashion statement.

Top Designer or Retail Oversized Sunglasses:

Tory Burch

Michael Kors

Burberry

Square Retro Block Hipster

Aviator Flat Top

Luxury Rimless

Guess Factory Oversized Chain-Trim

Large Round

Big Round Oval Celebrity Fashion Style

Let’s say your favorite sunglass style was not listed above, that’s okay. You know what you like and which style works for you! Whether you’re in a casual outfit, dress or suit, your sunglasses can stand out and demand attention. There’s nothing wrong with allowing your sunglasses to be the focal point of your outfit.

Accessory #8: Hands-Free, Neck Free Bags & Belt Bags

As women, we like our handbags/purses no doubt about it. Then, there are times we can do without having to carry it from place to place on our shoulder. Sometimes all we need is our keys, wallet and cell phone when running to the grocery store– right? Or how about when traveling and you really only want to take a few essentials from it. Times like these are when a hands-free bag or belt bag comes in handy.

Do you remember the pouches or fanny packs when they were first introduced? They were not all that attractive or fashionable but served its purpose. Now let’s fast forward to today’s time as fashion designers have made hands-free/belt bags appealing and stylish. The look and feel of a hands-free bag (or belt bag) can be easy to accessorize with one’s attire.

There are good reasons for owning a hands-free bag. For one, it’s very useful when traveling for vacation. A hands-free bag/belt bag is a good anti-theft protection item. You are not an easy target for someone who would have attempted to grab your handbag if it was on your shoulder. So, the next time you plan to travel or run a quick errand think about using a hands-free/belt bag.

Accessory #9: Dress for Survival

As we move from summer to fall, it’s important to prepare for the seasons ahead. If you live in a State that has hurricanes (heavy rain seasons) or winter storms one should have protective survival gear. You’re probably wondering how is survival gear an accessory (well it can be)? Have you ever heard the term “capsule wardrobe”?

A capsule wardrobe is items nine times out of ten you probably already own. Like jeans (slacks), skirts, sweaters, button-up collar shirts, blazers (jackets), etc. These are clothing items typically found in our closets that we wear daily.

Dressing for survival might seem odd but paired with the right accessory is becoming a trend. Basically, it’s clothing that you want to wear in layers. Check out this link on Pinterest.

There are other sites, like QT.COM which you might find useful.  Oh, and ThredUp.com is running a sale on women’s survival clothing and their prices look very reasonable.

A pair of denim jeans, a button shirt with a pullover sweater is really all it takes to “dress for survival” for the upcoming fall/winter season and don’t forget to add an accessory item (a fleece vest, a scarf, etc.).

Now if it’s going to be a rainy day, why not pull out your survival stylish galoshes boots, raincoat & hat!

Accessory #10: Cowboy Boots (Ankle Style)

Trending Cowboy Ankle Boots:

The Old Gringo Marrione Zipper

Corral Bone Embroidery and Swarovski

Circle G Women’s Back Cutout

Don’t forget to Accessorize

I’ve only covered 10 fall 2018 trending accessories (five in my previous post and five today).   As you know there are plenty more which you can pair up with your fall/winter wardrobe. Just remember, one simple accessory can help make any outfit stand out. An accessory item is to help complement one’s outfit/attire. Oh, and let’s not forget that our mood plays a factor as well. Somedays you might feel adventurous. Having a particular accessory that makes a bold statement may just be what you need. Then there are days you might like playing it safe and not draw too much attention to yourself. On those days your accessory item might reflect something that has neutral colors. You have to ask yourself this question: Today’s accessory I want it to….. (only you can fill in the blank here). Whichever way you decide how to rock your fashion accessories, remember it’s all up to you.

Fall 2018: Fashion Trend Accessories for Women

2018 Fall Trending Accessories: 1 thru 5

Depending on where one might live in the Country, the fall can be a beautiful season. I say this because the leaves on the trees begin to change colors. It lets you know that the holiday season is just around the corner. As fall begins to roll in during the month of September, one has to change one’s wardrobe from summer clothing to fall/winter clothing. In preparation is gathering your clothing selection, why not also begin to think of the different accessories which can accompany your ensembles. In my post today, I will cover 5 out of 10 trending accessories for women’s fashion this fall. For the remaining 5 accessories, I will cover in my next post. Now some of these accessories you may already have in your closet which you can jazz up to fit your fall 2018 fashion style.

Accessory #1: Animal Print Shoes

Leopard, snakeskin, zebra and cheetah prints are made out of synthetic material. The style of the shoe from these materials can be worn in so many ways: heels/pumps, ankle-straps, flats, wedges, ballet flats, etc. These animal prints are not only available in shoes but also for sneakers, which are becoming more of a fashion statement these days. The challenge is matching the animal print shoes with the right outfit. Here’s a couple of websites that you may find useful the next time you want to put on an animal print.

Pinterest list 132 ways to wear leopard shoes, click here.

Cosmopolitan.com list 10 ways leopard print can be worn:

  • Pair a leopard-print blouse with denim jeans
  • Wear leopard flats for work and the weekend
  • Break up a flowy leopard dress with neutral accessories
  • Treat leopard like a neutral and mix it with other prints
  • Use leopard as a tiny accent on an otherwise clean and simple outfit
  • Keep it casual with a slouchy leopard-print T-shirt
  • Wear fitted leopard pants and a moto jacket
  • Carry a leopard bag with, well, anything
  • Add a leopard-print faux fur coat and a chic pair of heels to any look
  • Add feminine power to menswear-inspired tailoring blazer

Accessory #2: Handbag/Purse (Over-Size)

This is just me but I think every woman loves a good handbag (purse). We even have our favorite handbag designers: Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Coach, Burberry, Chanel, Christian Dior and the list goes on and on. The size of a handbag can be an over-size and still be fashionable. Oh, and sometimes the bigger the purse doesn’t necessarily mean it’s from a famous designer. No matter who the designer is if we like the style we will buy it.

This next statement I’m about to make I hope it doesn’t offend anyone.  Now ladies, why do we tend to place almost everything we can think of in our handbags? In the back of our minds, we think we need it but

in reality, we forget it’s in there and never use those items. Then we wonder why are we having shoulder and back pain problems. Could it be we are carrying more than we really need? I’m not going against over-size bags as it’s a fashion trend and used for many things.  A word of caution, be mindful not to place too many items unnecessary that will weigh you down.

Now more than ever you will start seeing over-size bags being worn by many women.  For one, they are used instead of a book-bag. It’s convenient having an over-size handbag/purse when traveling (instead of a tote bag & a purse). The over-size handbag is also a plus for moms if they desire not to carry a baby bag. This type of handbag accessory can be used for many purposes.

Accessory #3: Scarves

Another accessory item for the fall/winter to accent your attire are scarves. Many of the fashion designers have created unique styles for 2018. Photos of these amazing scarves are available on Vogue’s website.

Also, if you ever want to learn how to tie a scarf in several ways, Bestproducts.com shows you 15 easy ways. There’s also a scarf which can be worn as a top; called a cowl-neck scarf top. Then you have the multi-facet scarves which can be worn so many ways and styled within seconds.  Below is a list of scarves styles:

  • Madras Plaid Silk Bandanna Scarf
  • Patterned Satin Scarf
  • Handkerchief
  • Pleated Geometric Scarf
  • Floral Extra-Large Sheer Square Scarf
  • Triangle Shawl
  • Manda Blue Scarf
  • Annual Scarf 2018
  • Stradivarius Leopard Print Neck Scarf
  • Plummets Du Roy Scarf
  • Printed Scarf

Accessory #4: Chunky Sneakers

The chunky sneakers (some call dad sneakers).  Could they still be fashionable come this fall? The answer is “Yes”. It’s actually one of the cooler runaway trends reported by Teenvogue.com.  This goes to show, what might lack fashion to some can eventually make it to the fashion runway. It’s been said that the chunky sneakers are worn a lot by Celebrities when traveling.

Just to name a few Celebrities who wear chunky sneakers:

  • Rihanna in Creepers for Puma
  • Kylie Jenner in Vans Checkered Slip-on
  • Reese Witherspoon in Puma
  • John Legend in Mark Nason Shaver Sneakers

Accessory #5: Gloves (they’re more than for warmth)

Gloves no longer are only worn to keep us warm but in today’s fashion world, they help make your outfit stand out! You can now match them to your handbag & top instead of your outer coat. You may want to add the below styles to your fall wardrobe collection from whowhatwear.com.

Leather w/ texture pattern or studs

Tulle

Satin

Elbow-length, Wrist-length

Embellished

Fur

Knit

Colors: Metallic, Neon, Prints, and Solids

Gloves can be worn with jeans & a t-shirt; floral dress; checked coat; and many other combinations of outfits you decide that works for you. So, the next time you pick up a pair of gloves, think “fashion & style”, not just for “warmth” anymore.

Just remember, accessories can make your outfit pop!

It really doesn’t take a whole lot to make your outfit standout when you add accessories. A pair of animal print shoes, a handbag, a scarf or even some gloves can make a world of difference.

Clothing for Women: Vintage Is In!

Never Say Never

Back in the day, anything that looked old fashion was considered outdated but not anymore. I remember growing up and laughing at how some dress styles were made which my Grandmother had in her closet. It’s funny how the clothing era comes around full circle again. I guess one can never say never when it comes to fashion styles. Just because the style occurred in a past era, doesn’t mean it can’t come back and resurface again. Take “Vintage” or Retro clothing for instance. I can’t help but picture in my mind a woman in a sequin dress wearing a hat or a headband with a flower on the side. Oh yes and can’t forget about the purse that matched the dress.

Then there’s the “Swing Pinup” dress.  This style of dress can be worn short sleeve, three-quarter length or even sleeveless. It has a small waist with a full swing at the bottom.  It was labeled/called a housewife party dress.  However, as time went on many versions of this dress was designed so it could be worn for several events or occasions.

Flapper Dresses

Now let’s not forget about those flapper dresses as they were popular in the vintage era. Women would wear them at Jazz concerts or for dancing. The younger women in the 1920’s worn them short while older women wore them longer. Back then when a woman dressed in this style she was making a bold statement. It was like her coming out party but at the same time, the look became fashionable.

Flapper Dress Colors:

  • Pastel Palette
  • Jade Green
  • Dusty Peach
  • Deep Pink
  • Red
  • Navy Blue/Medium Blue
  • Yellow
  • Light Grey
  • Sand Burnt Orange
  • Violet/Purple
  • Black

Fun Fact: The first women to wear a flapper dress was Zelda Fitzgerald. Now perhaps her name may not ring a bell, that’s okay. Try checking with your adult children as they may know the name from a Nintendo video game called Legend of Zelda (1986).

Here are some websites that give great tips on vintage attire:

The Dos and Don’ts of Wearing Vintage

How to Wear Vintage Clothing Without Looking Like You’re Wearing a Costume

What Age Should One Be to Wear Vintage Clothing

Now I know you are wondering what does Vintage clothing have to do with a certain age for a woman? Don’t worry, I’m going somewhere with this if you stay right here and keep reading my post. There’s no shame in my game, I’m in my late 40’s and I’m proud of it as age is nothing but a number. There’s no law stating once you hit 40 you have to stop looking your best. Now I will admit, I’m not trying to dress to look like I’m in my 20’s as that phase of my life is in the past. I’m enjoying the different styles of clothing available and yes, it has crossed my mind in purchasing some vintage clothing (or couture style) garments. Now I’m not saying you have to be in your 40’s in order to wear vintage clothing, far from it. In today’s time, vintage clothing is worn by all ages. There are so many ways one can wear vintage garments. Here’s a website called: Unique Vintage. This site has fashion styles from 4 different decades 1920’s 1950’s. If you have time take a few minutes to visit their site.

Vintage -or- Not Vintage

Now if you truly want to know if the clothing item is vintage, here’s a website that has 10 tips if it’s truly “Vintage or Not”. The vintage look has evolved and is keeping up with today’s fashion world. A dress or skirt that might have appeared old fashion, can as well be the latest fashion statement you see in a fashion show or on a runway. Now, remember I stated in the above paragraph what does vintage clothing have to do with Women over 40? Well absolutely nothing because a woman in her forties or any age (to be honest) can wear a vintage style if she so desires. It all depends on the look one has in mind.

You would be surprised to know there are many Vintage stores now available online. Oh, and don’t forget the nearest Consignment Shops or Theft Stores in your area as an option depending on your budget.

Look What’s On The Horizon This Fall For Fashion Styles

Which trend will you be wearing this fall?

Check Print Styles / Color Block Styles / 70’s Fashion / Boho Styles / Floral Prints / Black Floral Prints /Leopard / Hats / Puffy Jackets / Blanket Coats / Bold Prints

Are you ready to check out the latest fashion styles for the fall? Or even better, how about coming up with your own unique style? Take it from me, there’s nothing wrong in finding out what works for you. I know this post has been about Vintage clothing but find out which “Style” has your name written all over it. I found out it’s all about willing to take that step and try something totally different and new.

Take my first post for instance. I thought for a very long time my dresses had to be to my ankles no matter the season of the year. Now there’s nothing wrong with long dresses if that’s your style. As for me, I’m learning to have balance in all that I do. So why not try a new color or a pattern from the norm. Hey, you never know it just might look good on you! What’s that saying…you never know unless you try?

One Final Tip

I would like to leave you another avenue that can become useful in your fashion techniques. If you haven’t already, download “Fashion Apps” to your mobile devices. I know sometimes the pop-up notifications can be annoying at times. Heres what I like to do, I set aside a particular time towards the evening to view.  Make it convenient for you, when you’re able to unwind from your busy day. You want to be able to check out the latest fashion news & tips right at your fingertips.

Here’s a fashion mobile App that you might find helpful:

Tailor – Personal Stylist (4.8 Star Rating)

A personal stylist at your fingertips. Tailor connects you with a real-life professional stylist for free. Receive advice on how to style the clothes you already own or help you find a new-look altogether. Now you have to admit, this App just might save you a lot of time and energy in deciding on which outfit to wear – right?

I want to wish you all the very best in your fashion journey and enjoy the ride.  If you found this post helpful in any way, leave a comment below, thank you.

Clothes, Shoes, Hats, You Name It!

What’s In Your Closet

My first post talked about fashion & styles for Women but I’m hoping this particular post, Men will also want to take part in giving back as well.  Okay so let me begin with my closet (yes, my closet, I know sounds strange). When I look in my closet, I sometimes say what was on my mind when I purchased that item! Or how about this one…I’m sure I’ll have an occasion to wear this outfit so I’ll keep it.  Well, you can already guess what happens, it gets pushed to the back of the closet lol.  As time goes on I think we sometimes forget all about that dress, pants or shirt we purchased months ago and the price tag never gets cut off.  Then there’re times we buy something on an impulse but never decide to wear it. I even have clothes I just stopped wearing altogether.  I keep telling myself I can still get into that outfit.   Deep down I know it doesn’t look good on me anymore.  Question:  Has that ever happened to you?  So, what is one to do…here’s a suggestion: How about donating some of your clothing items that are in your closet?  Now if you are already donating – that’s wonderful, keep it up!

Time To Donate

Perhaps you’re reading this post and saying…you know, I do have some extra clothes I can donate to help others if that’s you – great! There are so many non-for-profit organizations right in our local communities that are helping people get back on their feet that would appreciate good condition clothing items. Even while I’m writing this post I know which Organization I plan to donate my clothing (as well as my son’s). This particular facility helps families re-establish themselves back into Society. If we could be truthful, our closet racks (if it could talk) would probably say, HELP, HELP, I CAN’T BREATHE OR SEE! We will push and squeeze our clothes on hangers from left to right to make more room for the new items we just purchased. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with adding to your closet but how about as you add, remove a few items first. It can help from making that store run to Walmart, Target or the Dollar Store for more hangers.

Just imagine being a blessing to others who are in need. What joy it is helping the next one, “Dress for Success”. I would like to challenge you (if you don’t mind). The next time you purchase a new outfit, take a look in your closet to see which items you no longer wear or will miss.  You remember that saying, “out of sight, out of mind”. Perhaps you are thinking, Teasha I’m too busy and don’t have the time to go through my entire closet. Okay, how about this, try making a list by category you want to donate:

  • Clothes (Business, Casual, etc.)
  • Shoes (Flats, Heels, Sneakers/Tennis Shoes)
  • Purses/Pocket Books
  • Hats
  • Accessories, etc.

Above categories I’ve mentioned is to help get you started (as we all have to start somewhere right?)  Also, here’s a website that lists 13 Great Places to Donate Your Clothing & Accessories. This site gives you a few tips before bringing in the items.  Within their site, they list Organizations that will provide a receipt if you need for tax write-off itemization purposes.

Donating Can Be Fun – Make It A Family Affair

Sometimes it’s easier said than done but if you have help, it can be fun!  Why not have the entire family get involved and make it a game. So, let’s say on a Saturday you set aside an hour for everyone in your household to gather their items they want to donate. Before they can place the items in bags or a box, the clothes must be folded and not just thrown in the bag.  Then set a timer for 5 minutes (allowing everyone to place their items in a bag neatly).  Once the timer goes off, each one examines the others bag to ensure the clothes are folded. The one who placed their clothes the neatest in the donation bag for that night gets to pick which Movie on TV the family will watch or decides which family indoor /outdoor activity to play.   Now you might have a better prize for the winner other than my suggestions.  It should be something with no cost involved as the end goal is to bring the family together.

Summer is Almost Over

I hope you’re having a fabulous summer thus far. It’s hard to even say this but summer will soon be coming to an end before we know it. Real soon it will be time to start thinking about winter clothes, coats, hats, etc., yes, it’s about that time believe it or not!  If you can, you may want to get ahead of the game if you happen to live in a state where it gets very cold.  I remember the days trying to find a coat for my son could grow into (well I thought he could at least).  Things did not go according to my plans because by the time winter was over his sleeves on the jacket were too short. It’s funny how our children seem to grow over the summer or in between the seasons.

So, don’t be surprised if you have to add buying a winter coat to your clothing budget (remember my 1st post about clothing budget.  Go check it out if you haven’t ready). Okay, let’s get back to winter coats & jackets. Websites like: Burlington, JC Penny’s, Kohls’ & other sites you may need to visit sooner than later. It’s also not a bad idea to sign-up to be on their email list. Sometimes during mid-week days is when they offer really good online shopping discounts.

I would like to leave this thought with you

Now I know I’ve been talking about coats you’ll have to eventually purchase but what about the old ones? One cannot forget the coats and jackets that are stored away right now in the storage bins or in basement closets. Why not make another donation drop off but this time to the local shelters.  Or other facilities within your surrounding areas that give out coats and blankets to those in need. Your coat can help someone stay warm during the cold winter stormy nights. Oh, and now you’ve passed on your fashion style to someone else.  Someone you may never know by name but in their hearts, they are grateful that you cared enough to share.

I do hope you found this post helpful. If so, feel free to leave me a comment below, take care for now.

Stylish Women Clothing: Fashionable and Beautiful

Appearance

Who says you can’t stay fashionable, stylish, trendy and beautiful as you age as a woman? Can I be honest, I used to think I couldn’t. Don’t laugh but I have a teenage son who looked at the clothes in my closet and shook his head and said Mom, “I’m calling the fashion police”.  Now at first, I was a little upset because what does he know, but truth be told he had a point!  So then I had to reevaluate (take a closer look) at my attire.

Many years I thought because of the position I held in my local church as a leader I had to wear dresses way below my knee, almost to my ankles. Looking back now I’m sure my clothing attire probably made me look humdrum and dull. Now before you think I’ve gone to the extreme opposite of my appearance, I haven’t. It’s just now I know I can look fashionable and beautiful without being out of my character and still know God is pleased.  I’ve just taken my fashion style up a notch as I realized I can wear a dress that comes to my knee and still look respectful without giving off the wrong impression.  Oh, and yes I still on occasions buy fashionable long dresses.  I just have a variety of selections now to choose.

Fashionable and Beautiful

God created us in His image and we are wonderfully made (which makes us beautiful from the start). I’ve come to realize there’s nothing wrong with being fashionable and beautiful at the same time. You can be fashionable and still remain classy and tasteful. Besides, it’s all up to the individual what works for their body type and shape. There’s nothing wrong with stepping up your wardrobe a little. For me, it’s a gradual process, not a sprint. In reality, it’s helping me enjoy the journey even the more. I’m no fashionista but I’m one who loves a good bargain and a great sale. There are so many websites now that I’m happy to say are within my clothing budget. Yes, ladies, it’s good to have a clothing budget. So now when I shop I don’t have to worry will this outfit set me back because I stay within my means.

What’s Your Style

It took me a minute before I realized what style suited me because everything on the rack did not look good once I tried it on (if you know what I mean). Even in my forties I still want my clothes to be age appropriate. I’m not ashamed of my age as a matter of fact so many have said I don’t even look like I’m in my 40s. I even had one lady who thought I was in my late 20’s (I had to smile and tell her my true age) but that I appreciated her compliment.

Here are some famous quotes, that you might find uplifting:

  • Coco Chanel: “In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.”
  • Alexander McQueen: “I think there is beauty in everything. What ‘normal’ people perceive as ugly, I can usually see something of beauty in it.”
  • Marilyn Monroe: “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.”
  • Sophia Loren: “A woman’s dress should be a like a barbed-wire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view.”

So now before I go out, I take pride in picking out an outfit from my closet. Whereas before I would just grab the first thing and wouldn’t think much of it. I’m sure we all have a certain style we see ourselves in. Whether it’s casual, professional or sexy; as our appearance means a lot. Let’s be honest, first impressions do mean a lot because once someone meets you for the first time, that look stays with them.

Do you already have a particular “Style” (for example):

  • Casual, Professional, Vintage, Urban, Bohemian (non-traditional), Artsy, Sophisticated or Elegant (just to name a few).
  • Which colors are your go-to or safe zone?
  • I used to wear a lot of neutral  & dark colors but I’m learning that other colors in the spectrum look nice on me as well.

Let’s say you have an event coming up for a BBQ or social gathering this summer, here’s a list of Vogue’s 10 color trends for the summer:

    1. Lavender
    2. Purple
    3. Rapture Rose
    4. Sky Blue
    5. Light Green
    6. Military Green
    7. Milk White
    8. Chocolate Brown
    9. Yellow
    10. Tomato Red

Online Shopping: Affordable Pricing

Online shopping began in 1994 and then in 1995 both Amazon and eBay came on the scene. Talk about perfect timing for these two companies to be launched on the internet. Just think back to what you were doing about 23 years ago when online shopping was introduced. For some, the idea of shopping online instead of having to drive to the store was all it took but for others, it took a while to catch on to the concept. However, in today’s times, I’m sure the majority household (at one point or another) have shopped online or sent gifts to love ones via online shopping. Online shopping saves us dollars more ways than I think we imagine. For one, we no longer have to physically go to major stores to stand on long lines as these stores now have online shopping capabilities (we are saving in time). Here’s another way online shopping saves us, how about in gas for our vehicles. Unless you live in a town that the shopping mall is around the corner, 9 times out of 10 you have to drive some miles before you get there.

Studies showed last year that Women shop online more than Men on a monthly basis: Woman 41% and Men 39%. It’s no secret as women, we like to shop but we play it smart when it comes to spending our money. We look for online store coupons, 15-20 % off, referral discounts, etc. – right ladies? If at all possible we will try to avoid paying the retail price unless it’s marked down. We will even wait and not buy the first time we see a dress, a pair of shoes (call it intuition or a gut feeling) because we will shop online knowing that item will be on sale soon. We will bookmark that page or save it in the cart and wait until the merchant sends out an advertisement notification to our phones or an email stating it’s now on sale.

As women, we take our fashion style and discount sales seriously. Just because the item was made by a designer doesn’t always mean we have to pay designer prices if we shop smart and wise. That’s another reason why online shopping is to our advantage ladies, we can shop around on several sites until we are satisfied that we are getting a bang for our buck.

Be Careful

If I can leave a tip with you that helped me along the way. I’m learning not to bite on more than what I can chew. We sometimes feel we have to buy that dress, shoes or purse right then and there but then realize later, wait, what did I just do? It’s okay if you have to wait a week or two before you can buy what you just laid your eyes on. Remember what I stated earlier, it’s good to have a clothing budget to keep you on track of your spending habits. For example, if you truly can only spend $75 but the outfit is $100, either search the web for coupons or wait until that item goes on sale.

About Teasha

I’m originally from the East Coast but moved to the West Coast about four years ago (Summer of 2014).  My teenage son had an opportunity in the acting/entertainment industry and as a single parent, I wanted to help him fulfill his dreams. Some might think I was crazy for picking up and driving over 3,000 miles to California within 3 days but guess what people, it was all worth it! I have to be honest, at first, I was nervous but I never wanted to look back and wish I should have, could have but never took that leap of faith.

Things began to fall into place for my son as well as for myself once we relocated. I met people who introduced me to other people who pushed me to achieve and pursue in areas I thought at one point in my life were unreachable but not so anymore.

In my 20s: I became a Mentor in Big Brothers/Big Sister Program; sang with a well renowned Gospel Community Choir; established Crusader’s for Christ/Evangelism Outreach Team and helped with local missionary work all while having a 9 to 5.

In my 30s: Motherhood began for me; I went back to school and focused my studies in Human Resources; was a Board Member & Treasurer for the Co-Op Development I lived in. I was a Youth Leader; Committee Coordinator for my son’s Boy’s Scouts Troops; Administrator for a Community Basketball Team and was licensed as an ordained Minister in my local church.

Now in my 40s: I moved from the East Coast to the West Coast; became an ordained Elder; Certified Chaplain; So Ca State Director of Evangelism (FGBC), I volunteer weekly at a local Elderly Facility and serve as the Chief of Staff for my local church.

JUST BELIEVE

Sometimes you just have to venture out and take a chance (like I did). You have to be optimistic and know that better is ahead. Step out of the norm and broaden your horizons and don’t limit yourself. All it takes is just that leap of faith.

Remember growing up and you heard the story about the little engine that could, “I think I can, I think I can”. Well, sometimes you have to remind yourself, “Yes I Can”. Anything worth having in life, you have to be willing to work towards it and set your goals until they become your accomplishments.

I look back now and I’m happy to say in each decade of my life (from my 20s to present), I’ve continued to strive and I’m going to continue because I have a purpose and my destiny is ahead of me. I’m not willing to stop now because I’m excited to see what the future holds. I’m sure there are some who thought I was out of my mind for moving cross-country but one thing is for sure, I’ve decided to keep moving ahead and not looking back. It’s true, the “Present is a gift”, the past I can’t change but I can do something about my current state/conditions LOL!

CARING IS SHARING

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a passion for helping others. Perhaps it was my upbringing on how I was raised with my Christian beliefs.

Now don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of times I made some mistakes in life and wish back then someone was willing to take the time to show me how to have multiple streams of income without being taken advantage of or having to pay upfront high cost and fees. It’s a shame why people are hesitant in helping others become successful as there’s plenty of wealth to go around.

Could it be they just don’t want to be transparent in front of others?  However, if we became an open book and took the mask off imagine how many lives could be touched and blessed for the better. It used to take a village to raise a child, what if that village became Entrepreneurs supporting their families and no longer struggling to survive from paycheck to paycheck. All it takes is just that one that’s willing to go the extra mile to help/train the next and the next.
